Our client requires a Storage Analyst to provide expertise in the design, development, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and customer support for various data platforms within the Data Centre of Excellence. The Storage Analyst must have an in-depth understanding of data operation best practices as well as expertise with the tools needed to debug and diagnose issues. The Storage Analyst will lead system implementation and design and architecture for the development, enhancements, and maintenance of Cloud Data Platforms (Azure, Snowflake. Databricks) and other key data platforms (Open Government portal, Cloudera, etc.) to ensure the system design meets business requirements.
Resource will work remotely but must be available to be on-site when requested for meetings. Frequency of meeting could be up to 3-4 times per fiscal year. Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time. Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues. Resource is responsible to pay for travel to on-site meetings.

Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent 8 years of experience.
- 4 years’ proficiency in writing, maintaining, and version-controlling Terraform configuration files for Azure resources (e.g., Azure Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, Virtual Networks, etc.).
- 4 years’ monitoring Azure infrastructure performance, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing resource usage.
- 4 years’ deploying, managing, and monitoring Azure cloud infrastructure including virtual networks, virtual machines, storage accounts, data services (ADF, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, Azure ML, etc.) and other Azure resources.
- 4 years’ automate routine tasks using GitHub/GitHub Actions.
- 4 years’ maintaining and managing Azure cost management and budgeting.
- 4 years’ implementing and managing Azure security controls including network security groups, Azure Active Directory, and identity and access management.
- 4 years’ collaborating and supporting data architects, engineers and analysts to design and optimize cloud architecture and services.
Desirable Requirements
- Active Azure certificates: AZ-104.
- Active Azure certificates: AZ-305.
- Azure certificates: Azure AZ-900.
- 4 years’ knowledge of data governance, data privacy, and compliance regulations.
- 4 years’ strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, features, and best practices. Experience with provisioning, supporting and administering Snowflake
- 4 years’ experience working within a large and complex enterprise public sector environment.
- 4 years’ hands on experience administering Databricks
- 4 years’ hands on experience administering Databricks, PowerBI and Purview
- 4 years’ experience in prioritizing, provisioning requests based on SLA tiers, urgency, and business impact and experience in tracking, monitoring, and reporting on SLA performance metrics.
