Our client requires a consultant to lead data validation and integration for provincial Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and clinical repositories. Consultant will ensure compliance with HL7 v2 and HL7 FHIR standards, plus perform conformance testing, data readiness assessments, and interoperability reviews across multiple health information systems. Expertise is required for health data exchange, clinical data standards, and integration methodologies.
Work is onsite at client location in Toronto, ON.

Responsibilities
- Supporting data adoption and integration projects for EHR contributions, collaborating with project managers and product teams.
- Providing subject matter expertise in HL7 v2 and HL7 FHIR standards for conformance testing, validation, and implementation of patient data.
- Advising external stakeholders on interface development and readiness for contributing to or consuming data from clinical repositories.
- Managing multiple data integration work packages, ensuring compliance with Provincial Health specifications and FHIR Implementation Guides.
- Conducting detailed reviews and validation of data submissions for compliance, conformance, and readiness against HL7 messaging standards.
- Acting as a senior liaison with clients and partners, applying defined methodologies to measure and validate data integration quality
Mandatory Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience comprehensive understanding of health care sector workflows and source system technologies (such as HIS, EMR, LIS), along with hands-on experience working with Integration Engines, is highly preferred.
- 7+ years’ hands-on experience in delivering electronic health data integration projects or operations is required. This includes expertise in the acquisition, integration, and utilization of health data employing healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 V2.x (mandatory) and V3. Practical experience with FHIR and XML messaging principles is highly desirable.
- 5+ years’ experience Applied knowledge of HL7 Health Standard message conformance tooling (e.g., Caristix, XMLSpy, 7Edit, Postman, etc.) for HL7 v2.x, v3, and FHIR.
- Must have health industry experience in health organizations with hands on experience of healthcare integration standards, such as HL7
- Strong time management skills for effectively handling numerous projects, each with demanding deadlines.
Desirable Requirements
- Technical health sector experience desirable
- In-depth knowledge clinical workflow and technical processes within hospitals or other healthcare sector locations; with knowledge on the flow of information using HL7 standard-based messages.
- In-depth working and applied knowledge of healthcare systems, healthcare integration standards such as HL7 v2 & FHIR, XML messaging principles, techniques and technologies is mandatory (for example Meditech, Cerner, and Epic).
- Applied use and knowledge of HL7 health standards, and the application of HL7 messaging standards (HL7 versions 2, version 3 and FHIR), HL7 v3 products including CDA, and related implementation guides from multiple standards development organizations. Experience with HL7 FHIR health standard is an asset.
- Detailed knowledge of other Healthcare technology systems such as Pharmacy Management Systems, Lab Information Systems, Hospital Information Systems, Diagnostic Viewers and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems is an asset.
