Our client requires a DBA to manage and maintain applications, and database platforms hosted in a hybrid Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) cloud environment. Resource will provide subject matter expertise in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and other database technologies.
Work will be performed in a hybrid model. Resources are expected to be onsite at client location in Victoria, B.C. at least two days a week. The resource will be responsible for any travel or travel related expenses occurred while performing services.

Responsibilities
- Participates in all initiatives related to database monitoring, automation, optimization, efficiency, capacity planning, emergency response, change management and process improvements.
- Ensures all components of a DBMS including – where applicable – storage, archiving, capacity management, high availability, backup and recovery procedures are built, configured and monitored correctly.
- Maintains data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users).
- Manages Production, Test and Development database environments.
- Maintains Database DR documentation, procedures, jobs and supports the annual DR test
- Builds and reports on database performance and availability metrics for implementing best practices and optimizing performance
- Collaborating with development teams, understands current builds and release processes, and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Builds and maintains the CI/CD pipelines to improve developer productivity, agility, and code quality.
- Collaborates with the software engineering teams to implement the technology modernization roadmap, including automation pipelines and new advanced database techniques
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- +5 years of experience with On-prem and/or Cloud Database services
- +5 years of experience in database administration in complex enterprise environments
- +2 years of experience with Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB) services
Desirable Requirements
- +5 years of experience with MS SQL Server and Oracle Enterprise Database Administration and Database performance and tuning
- +5 years of experience in installation, configuration and administration of Oracle, MySQL and Postgresql on Linux and Windows
- +2 years’ experience with Azure data storage and Azure SQL Database services
- +2 years’ experience with OCI services
- Proficient knowledge of programing languages, including Python, SQL, PL/SQL, .NET, and TSQL
- Proficient knowledge of relational database systems, Structured Query Language, relational data modeling and data management principles
- +2 years of experience in installation, configuration and administration of Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- +2 years of experience in installation, configuration and administration of Microsoft Power BI
- +2 years of experience in configuration and administration of Azure Cosmos DB
- +2 years of experience in configuration and administration of Microsoft Fabric
