When working as an independent consultant, there are many advantages to being an incorporated business. We can assist you to understand more about incorporating. All independent contractors are required to have a GST/HST number.

IQAS Requirements

The Government of Alberta is instituting a staged approach to implement a new requirement for all IT professionals with foreign education.  If you obtained your post secondary education from outside of Canada or U.S.A., you must acquire an International Qualifications Assessment (IQAS) from the Government of Alberta, or an equivalent accreditation that is recognized by the Government of Canada or Alberta. This implementation is to standardize the evaluation of all IT professionals for Government of Alberta IT opportunities.  This also applies to IT professionals currently on assignment at Government of Alberta.

If your post-secondary education is received outside of Canada and U.S.A, you should immediately prepare to obtain your IQAS accreditation or equivalent. Please note that the processing time for obtaining accreditation may take several months.
