Our client requires a Data Architect to join the Justice Information Management System (JIMS) 3.0, which is a data integration project aimed to amalgamate, re-design and implement several disjointed reporting data marts containing court data into an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and a set of dependent data mart and views.

Must be able to pass Enhanced Security Clearance and Criminal Records Check.

Resource will work remotely but must be available to be on-site when requested for meetings. Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time. Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues.

Edmonton, Alberta (Remote within Canada)

 

Responsibilities
  • Review existing data marts,
  • Perform detailed data profiling,
  • Analyze and create design and mapping specifications,
  • Identify Dimensions required for Facts,
  • Complete detailed data profiling of tables included in Facts,
  • Develop and test Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes,
  • Develop Power BI reports for testing for several Dimensions,
  • Testing of Dimensions and Fact for quality assurance
  • Update JOIN as-is data models for new Fact attributes
  • Stage the required data
  • Address minor fixes in delivered data marts,
  • Provide feedback and lessons learned at project close out.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (equivalent experience may be considered; formal education strongly preferred).
  • 2 years’ experience working in or with public-sector environments with awareness of public-sector constraints, privacy legislation (e.g., FOIP).
  • 5 years’ proven experience providing architecture risk assessments AND, providing architecture analysis/assessment, AND capturing and implementing business rules, AND determining data mart content, data structures
  • Must be able to pass Criminal Records Check and Enhanced Security Check
Desirable Requirements
  • Completed training in database administration
  • Completed training in SQL Server reporting services (SSRS)
  • Data Warehousing certifications with one of the following: TDWI’s Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP), or CFI’s Business Intelligence and Data Analyst (BIDA), Etc., or Completion of “Kimball Group” Data Warehouse training.
  • 5 years’ experience developing using software such as SAP/Sybase’s PowerDesigner, or ERWin, or Oracle Designer, or SQL Developer Data Modeler, or Microsoft Visio, etc.
  • 3 years’ experience using JOIN (Justice Online Information Network) and JIMS (Justice Information Management System) data and data structures, and knowledge of business rules based on Judicial processes
  • 2 years’ experience working in or with Court environments, with awareness of the importance of judicial independence.
  • 1 year experience working with information management and cybersecurity policies, directives, and guidelines within limited timelines.
  • 5 years strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Completed training specific to SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
