Our client requires a data architect for modernizing digital regulatory reporting by standardizing and rationalizing monitoring and reporting data to support analytics ready platforms. Working in an agile environment, the data architect will design canonical data models, unified business objects, and scalable data structures to reduce duplication and enable consistent, high quality regulatory data. These efforts will support advanced analytics, reporting automation, and future predictive use cases

Resource will work remotely but must work onsite at the client location once a month when there is a scheduled meeting. Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time. Work must be done from within Alberta, due to network and data security issues. Resource is responsible to pay for travel to on-site meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Identifying and reducing duplication across regulatory monitoring and reporting templates by rationalizing parameters, metrics, calculations, and template designs.
  • Defining, documenting, and maintaining canonical data elements and unified business objects, including core entities, attributes, relationships, and authoritative definitions.
  • Designing analytics ready data models, including fact and dimension tables, with clear row level grain, structural standards, versioning, and historical traceability.
  • Translating approved data models into engineering specifications such as schemas, ingestion contracts, transformation logic, and data quality rules, and provide design guidance to data engineering teams.
  • Reviewing data pipeline implementations to ensure conformance with canonical models and address deviations prior to data reaching analytical layers.
  • Designing scalable data structures to support aggregation, trend analysis, anomaly detection, and future machine learning use cases, while planning for schema evolution and ongoing analyst feedback
Mandatory Requirements
  • A College or Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field of study (Proof of degree to be provided)
  • 8 years’ experience designing, planning, implementing and supporting enterprise solution databases in a large scale enterprise environment, preferably public sector8 years’ experience documenting enterprise solution databases in a large scale enterprise environment.
  • 8 years’ experience with enterprise architecture principles and associated best practices, methods, standards, tools, policies, and processes.
  • 8 years’ experience working as a Data Architect in an enterprise IT environment, preferably public sector.
Desirable Requirements
  • Certification in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) (Proof of degree to be provided)
  • 5 years’ experience designing and implementing enterprise architecture database plans and models that help align an organization’s data, information or technology with it’s required business capabilities in a large enterprise IT environment, preferably public sector3 years’ experience in performing threat and risk assessments and presenting recommendations for risk mitigation to senior management.
  • 2 years’ experience in using a tool for architecture models such as: PowerDesigner, ER Studio, Er-win, BPwin, Rational Rose.
  • 3 years’ experience project managing application development projects using Agile sprint development.
  • 5 years’ experience with enterprise business intelligence products such as Microsoft Power BI
  • Experience providing leadership, planning, estimating, and presentations of ideas and solutions.
