Our client requires eleven (11) architects to provide strategic guidance and oversee the software architecture of digital services, ensuring alignment with a common architectural vision and iterative delivery of solutions. As the senior technical resource, the architect will guide the team in delivering user-centric services, balancing technical and business needs, and may perform development work as needed.

Work is remote.

Edmonton, Alberta (Remote)

Responsibilities

Duties Include:

  • Develop and oversee the overall architectural plan, ensuring citizen-centered design and agile software approach.
  • Provide recommendations, prototypes, and accountable solution designs for iterative implementation.
  • Facilitate frequent product delivery and determine tactical approaches for system integration.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage common components and capabilities of other digital services.
  • Provide guidance on detailed designs, review code changes, and contribute to code implementation.
  • Coach and mentor the product team, and contribute to the development of principles, metrics, and standards for service quality and delivery
Mandatory Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, IT or related field of study.
  • 5 years’ experience conveying technical information to non-technical people and advising decision-makers on technical options.
  • 5 years’ experience in leading solution architecture and introducing the overall technical vision for a large-scale Enterprise projects with integrations between systems.
  • 5 years’ experience leading and mentoring team(s) in agile principles, policies and procedures
  • 2 years’ experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and the ability to leverage them to build scalable and resilient architectures.
  • 5 years’ experience working as a software architect on complex software solutions in an agile team environment.
  • 5 years’ experience working in software development across the full software development lifecycle
  • 5 years’ experience working with open source ecosystems such as Node.js/NPM.
Desirable Requirements
  • 2 years’ experience implementing DevSecOps in an enterprise environment
  • 5 years’ experience incrementally transforming existing legacy systems into modern digital services across multiple releases.
  • 5 years’ experience working as an application architect designing or maintaining solutions that use enterprise Master Data Management (MDM) hub architecture registries.
  • 5 years’ experience working as a senior technical resource identifying and advocating technologies and approaches that lead to digital transformation in the public sector context.
  • 2 years’ experience working with teams that also apply UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design approaches.
  • 4 years’ experience leading domain modelling and database schema design for transactional and reporting systems.
  • 4 years’ experience working as an architect using data analytics tools and methodologies to derive insights from data
  • 4 years’ experience working with other architects and/or as part of cross-functional teams to identify efficiencies through common services, reusable components and application programming interfaces (APIs), and contribute to the overall architecture practice designing and implementing application programming interfaces (APIs) and system integrations.
