Our client requires a Business Consultant to support the building of the client’s Digital Regulatory Assurance System (DRAS). The position will play an important role in collecting requirements, building onto the existing digital infrastructure as well as supporting feedback and enhancements. This role is in a high-performing team in a fast-paced work environment.

Resource will work remotely but must work onsite at the client location once a month when there is a scheduled meeting. Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time. Work must be done from within Alberta, due to network and data security issues. Resource is responsible to pay for travel to on-site meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate requirements gathering for continuous improvement of the DRAS system.
  • Analyze and define business requirements for functionality, defects and enhancements to meet business operational requirements.
  • Work with business clients and technical teams on the design, development and implementation of business applications.
  • Document, analyze and manage business requirements.
  • Produce deliverables within specified quality standards.
  • Escalate issues and risks, as appropriate.
  • Prepare and execute tasks in accordance with a defined project plan.
  • Review and provide input on test strategies, plans, and test cases to ensure they adequately cover the defined business requirements.
  • Execute tasks including status reporting, issues, risks and change management at the project and/or program level.
  • Attend necessary meetings to review schedule, status, issues, risk and change management.
  • Support project team members in the analysis of issues.
  • Prepare status reports, meeting minutes, change requests and other documents to management detailing tasks undertaken and timelines associated to the execution of those tasks.
  • Obtain sign-off on the deliverables from the appropriate program/project sponsors.
  • Track recommendations, who recommended it and then loop back with updates addressing the idea, either confirming its going ahead, not feasible at this time, complete, etc.
  • Document and communicate when a CI requires communication or training to a broader audience and support OCMs understanding for the benefit this CI brings and what stakeholder needs it addresses.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Must meet or exceed one of the following combinations of education or certification and experience in the resource role (attach a copy of the Degree, Diploma or Certificate to the resume if applicable):
    • University degree in business, management or a related discipline and four years of related experience; OR
    • Two-year diploma in business, management or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution and six years of related experience; OR
    • One-year certificate in business, management or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution and seven years of related experience.
  • 3 years’ experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis of costs and benefits
  • 3 years’ experience with business writing, communication and documentation.
  • 3 years’ experience with change management.
  • 3 years’ experience with systems development methodologies and life cycles for application development.
  • 3 years’ experience working with system stakeholders in the development and maintenance of IT applications.
Desirable Requirements
  • Active certification in CAPM, PMP or PgMP as issued by the Project Management Institute or equivalent and/or an active CMC designation as issued by a member institute of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes or equivalent to the resume
  • 3 years’ experience in a leadership and/or facilitation role.
  • 3 years’ experience in managing projects in a large and complex organization
  • 3 years’ experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to plan and design creative solutions.
  • 3 years’ experience with the development of communications plans.
  • 3 years’ experience with the development of information management or related types of policies, standards and practices.
