Our client requires an ETL tester to focus on quality assurance for a large-scale healthcare digital transformation initiative involving the modernization of communication and reporting processes. The tester will develop and execute test strategies, test plans, SQL-based data validation, ETL testing, integration testing, regression testing, and reporting validation within data warehouse and data migration environments. Success in this role requires strong expertise in SQL Server/Oracle databases, Informatica ETL testing, data quality assurance, requirements traceability, and end-to-end testing of reporting and analytics solutions.

Work is hybrid with 3 days per week onsite at client location in Toronto, ON.

Responsibilities

• Provides advice on the testing strategy, test plans, the selection of testing tools, and the identification of resources required for testing
• Plans and organize testing efforts for large systems in Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-Graphical User Interface (GUI) environments, including the execution of systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing (e.g., stress tests)
• Develop test plans, test scripts and test cases and execute these against the various components. Work with the testing lead and IT lead of each project as well as the project team members in the analysis, design, development, implementation and ongoing support of the required systems
• Manual testing and debugging by writing complex SQL queries and ETL validation to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data transformations and extractions.
• Performing and executing functional, integration, interface, performance and regression testing, preparing estimates
• Planning and preparation along with other testing artifacts in alignment with best practices for Quality Assurance standards.
• Deliverables Include Master Test Plan, test Cases in ADO, SQL test scripts, requirements traceability, QA Test results summary report

Mandatory Requirements

• 5-7 years of writing complete SQL scripts
• 3-5 years of testing experience with Informatica ETL tool or equivalent
• Experience working in Data Warehouse /Data Migration projects
• Excellent database data analysis skills using SQL. Ability to write complex SQL scripts including joins and aggregations to analyze backend data and verify behaviour of ETL processes
• Expert understanding of database concepts for SQL Server and/or Oracle, such as PL/SQL, procedures, triggers, packages, views.
• Solid understanding of how User Stories, Business Requirements Definition (BRD), Data Models, data mappings and design are used to support QA testing.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills to track test planning and execution, including querying databases to verify data, identify potential defects and enhancements.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines, with emphasis on responding to change rather than following the plan.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, and evaluate opportunistic innovative ideas with internal and external partners.

Desirable Requirements

• Public Sector experience is nice to have
• Executing the ETL Datastage jobs using UNIX shell scripts
• Technical proficiency in Siebel/CRM
• Understanding of key cloud concepts for one of the major cloud providers (such as Azure or AWS)
• Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux operations (connectivity, navigation, executing basic commands)
